Tennis, Bunting and British Summertime

So it’s been a fairly typically Wimbledon week, a bit of sunshine and a lot of rain. Just in case you forgot it is actually July now so time to celebrate the Summer.

Now I know today is 4th of July so I should be doing something USA themed. But I have decided to throw caution to the wind and do the most British Centric post I am yet to do.

Inspired by a trip to Wimbledon and of course the bad weather I have decided to celebrate summer with some Scones and Strawberry Jam. I even created a mood board, just to get you… well… in the mood.

How to host the perfect Euro 2012 Final Party

Whilst watching the Spain vs Portgual match at a friends house on Wednesday night, we were discussing the ideal circumstances in which to view important matches.

At home could always be a risk, if you’re by yourself and it’s an epic game you don’t have anyone to share the highs and lows with, to listen to your comments or argue over a particular players form.

A healthier breakfast

In my last blog I mentioned the challenge I had been set by ‘The Father From Scratch’ to create a healthy no carb breakfast option for him.

Now breakfast is my favourite meal of the day and when I look back I am quite shocked at how little I talk about it ( not in general life, more because I write a blog about food). For me the different combinations breakfast can offer are wonderful and I could quite happily have a day eating breakfast, brunch and brinner. The diversity of breakfast is one of its greatest delights so I can understand the frustration of only being able to eat a few different foods.

Friday Treats: Vegan Friendly Flapjacks

Now I have been going on about baking for ages whilst simultaneously jabbering on about being healthy etc. etc. yadda yadda yadda, Shut up already and give me some deliciously healthy recipes I hear you shout!

Well I know I mentioned Vegan Flapjacks a few days ago and I didnt want to disappoint so I thought I would offer up the recipe as a possible solution to your weekend treat predicament. ( Here I am  of course presuming everyone likes to treat themselves at the weekend)

Festival Notes

It was another busy week for From Scratch as I prepared a lot of baked goods for the Farm the City Festival that happened on Saturday. Luckily no cake related disasters (I am a pro now after that wedding cake – that said my brownies were monumentally gooey. You could argue you can’t have brownies that are too gooey, well when your brownies shape shift around your utensils, you might have excess goo!) Brownies aside though, everything turned out rather well.

Suppers From Scratch at Farm the City London Festival

Exciting news for this weekend! I just wanted to write a quick post about the Farm the City London Food Festival that is happening this weekend. You can get full details here: http://www.farmthecitylondon.com/the-festival/ or https://www.facebook.com/events/314425511946132/

There are some great organisations involved from what I hear ( including From Scratch of course!) and if you are even toying with the idea of growing your own food you need to be there as I think it will be a bit of a one stop shop to get you started. With the focus on good food and health – I think there might even be some yoga happening – be prepared for an inspirational start to your summer 2012 health kick.

Crafternoon Delight

This weekend was the first From Scratch Crafternoon Tea party and it was….. (I love building the suspense) ……… (Can you handle it)…..

Amazing! (Well I was hardly going to say that is was rubbish was I!) Surrounded by some wonderful From Scratch supporters we embarked on an afternoon of making things From Scratch.

Despite the earlier hiccups of not being able to fit the Afternoon Tea Table through the door (we tried all combinations of angles and pivot points but to no avail!) it all went pretty swimmingly. The cakes didn’t burn, the jam set (despite being on the gooey side), the madeleines were delicious and the scones rose. I felt like a complete domestic goddess. Especially once you throw in the homemade bunting, which was very fun and easy to make, I felt like the British Martha Stewart.

Hear Ye, Hear ye…

So this is it people… There was only a certain amount of time that I can sit
around planning and thinking about all the amazing things I could do with Suppers From Scratch and not do something.

I know we all like a good ponder and I certainly do. You should see the mind map I created based on what I could do with From Scratch. But then I realised the number one question : Why do anything? Isn’t it good just as it is?

Let them eat cake

So I know I promised you a hen do blog, but with the wedding on Friday I just ran out of time. Now the wedding has been and gone it seems silly to talk about the hen do when I can write about the actual event.

If this was just a blog about the wedding I would only need one word….IMMENSE!

And what is a wedding without the cake. So instead of filling you in on the dresses, speeches and dancing I will update you on part two of wedding cake making .
