More to life than food – The Importance of Patience


Patience isn’t something that a lot of people seem to talk about. We seem like a group of people that like to talk about setting goals and getting places. Don’t wait for life to happen to you go and grab it by the horns – you know that sort of thing. Your 10 step route for where you want to be. Now don’t get me wrong I am all for dreaming big and moving towards positive change. This isn’t the stagnating sally club, we all want to be moving and evolving. But by nature we are. Sometimes we might feel like we need a little push, but for the most part our energy is moving us forward. Onward and upward.

Shelling Peas

Just like kneading bread, shelling peas is one of those simple pleasures in life that can bring undeniable peace. One of my favourite summer activities is to sit outside shelling peas, or broad beans. The process which can sometimes seem long, and in a society where often speed is valued over experience, ‘unnecessary’ holds within it one of the greatest pleasures in life, preparing food for people we love.

There’s more to life than food

There is more to life than food

For a while now I have been thinking about broadening the scope for what I write about on this blog. Not because I don’t love food, or because I am getting bored of cooking – I am not sure that will ever happen. But rather because I love writing, and have a myriad of different ideas floating about at any one time and sometimes I get excited over something and want to talk, think or write about that. In the past I have just written it down and left it on my computer because I write a food blog therefore I must talk about food. But I have decided food blog schmood blog. It’s my blog and I will write about whatever I want. So the rules are changing. Don’t worry though this isn’t going to turn into a bizarre vat of my inner thoughts where food no longer exists, it just means if I find something cool and want to share it I am going to regardless of whether it is edible or not. Because who made these rules that dictate what a good blogger should and shouldn’t write about!  Enough of that, time for us to broaden our horizons.
