It is so good, it has honestly taken that long for my brain to accept that something without anything bad in, can taste so decadent.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Before you read this recipe and go \u2013 yeah Lucy, that sounds &#8216;nice&#8217; \u2013 but let&#8217;s face it you aren&#8217;t going to make it because you find it difficult to believe that anything with the ingredient list I am going to give you could pass for a good brownie.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">But I have evidence.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>Number 1:<\/strong> I make a good normal brownie<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">For those of you who have never been around for tea. I make pretty decent normal brownies, gooey, soft and very chocolatey. So I think I am a good judge of a brownies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>Number 2<\/strong>: This passed the taste test with 5 people \u2013 all who have asked for the recipe<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>Number 3<\/strong>: ( and this is the real clincher) \u2013 My unsuspecting male house mate powered his way through the tin of brownies whilst I was away at the weekend \u2013 upon my return I asked where they were and he told me he ate them \u2013 his verdict \u2013 very rich and decadent treat! Haha! I fooled a full grown man into thinking the fudgy gooey brownies were normal fugey gooey brownies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Ladies and gentlemen I rest my case.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Now I am not saying that if you ate these brownies all day every day you wouldn&#8217;t put on a bit of weight. You probably would \u2013 they have nuts in them after all. But as a weekly treat, they make a pretty good alternative.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">So let&#8217;s get on with it shall we. The moment that will change your life.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">The recipe\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">I was inspired by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mynewroots.org\/site\/2011\/04\/the-raw-brownie-2\/\">My New Roots Raw Brownies <\/a>\u2013 one of my favourite places to go for healthy and delicious recipe inspiration. To be honest before this I had never contemplated make raw desserts like this. But it looked yummy and was packed with goodness so why not right! So here is my adapted version (to suit my sweet tooth and cupboard stores). I hope you enjoy!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1788\" alt=\"Dates\" src=\"http:\/\/www.suppersfromscratch.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/Dates.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"399\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.suppersfromscratch.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/Dates.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.suppersfromscratch.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/Dates-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Ingredients<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">200g Walnuts<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">250g Medjool Dates ( I ended up using a whole big packet)<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">110g Cocoa Powder<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">50g Raisins<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">100g Almonds<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">\u00bc tsp Sea Salt<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Method<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Place the Walnuts in a food processor and blitz until they have turned into a light flour type consistency ( This made me think Walnut flour \u2013 the new addition to my next banana bread!)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Add the Cocoa Powder and Salt, pulse until everything is combined<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Next pit your Dates ( this can get quite sticky) turn on your food processor and add your dates one by one until everything is combined \u2013 this should now turn into a crumb like mixture that sticks together if you push it. If it is too dry \u2013 try adding another Date or some Raisins<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Chop your Almonds slightly.
