You know when you have a really good meal filled with loads of yummy and nutritional goodies you get a wave of energy and a feeling that you could do anything. It&#8217;s brilliant isn\u2019t it? Especially when you are flagging and have no energy sometimes food can be that pick me up you need. Yesterday that was what I needed, something really good for me to give me an extra boost. Just like Popeye with his spinach or Bananaman with his bananas sometimes food can even turn you into a super hero.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;\">If I had to pick my superhero food \u2026 well then \u2026 I would undoubtedly be Broccoli Girl!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/suppersfromscratch.wordpress.com\/2013\/01\/05\/super-foods-or-super-heroes\/screen-shot-2013-01-03-at-23-25-48\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1060\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1060\" alt=\"Broccoli Girl\" src=\"http:\/\/suppersfromscratch.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/01\/screen-shot-2013-01-03-at-23-25-48.png\" width=\"325\" height=\"341\" \/><\/a> <!--more--><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;\">Broccoli is yummy with everything, the perfect accompaniment, a great dish addition and the best bit? You can cut it so it looks like trees and pretend you are a giant!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;\">Let&#8217;s not get carried away, the point was yesterday I needed some super hero food and Broccoli was my saviour in the form of a broccoli, ginger and bean soup.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;\">Eating this felt like eating pure health, whilst also transporting me to taste bud heaven. And the best news \u2013 this can be made From Scratch in under 30mins. Take that shop bought soup!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;\">I can hear you are clamouring for the recipe so, I wont ramble on forever other than to say if you are feeling a little under the weather, or needing to have a january health kick here is your deliverance.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;\">Your welcome. Now I must fly to another galaxy to spread my Broccoli knowledge elsewhere.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;\">Happy souping.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;\"><strong>Broccoli Girl Soup\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;\"><em>Ingredients\u00a0<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;\">1 Whole Broccoli chopped \u2013 Separate the stalk from the trees for the time being<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;\">2 cloves of garlic\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/suppersfromscratch.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/01\/dsc_1046.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1064\" alt=\"Broccoli Soup\" src=\"http:\/\/suppersfromscratch.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/01\/dsc_1046.jpg?w=199\" width=\"199\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;\">1 onion<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;\">1 thumb size piece of ginger chopped<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;\">600ml Vegetable stock<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;\">380g Cannellini beans \u2013 either from a tin or cooked from dry<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;\">A handful of coriander &#8211; chopped<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;\">A handful of sesame seeds<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;\">\u00bd a lime<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;\">Sprinkle of soy sauce<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;\"><em>Method<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;\">Heat a dash of oil in a pan and soften your onions, garlic and ginger<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;\">Next add the chopped up stalk<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;\">Pour in your stock and leave to simmer for 10mins<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;\">Add the trees ( or broccoli tops to your average joe) cannellini beans, and coriander<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;\">Cook for another 5 mins until tender<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;\">Remove from the heat and blend<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;\">Toast your sesame seeds in a small pan, sprinkle over, squeeze over the lime juice and a dash of soy sauce and serve<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/suppersfromscratch.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/01\/dsc_1054.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1065\" alt=\"Broccoli Soup\" src=\"http:\/\/suppersfromscratch.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/01\/dsc_1054.jpg\" width=\"490\" height=\"325\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Food can make you feel great.
